We know the saying about “an ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure,” but what do we do once a disruption has occurred?  The majority of disruptive behavior stems from students  attempting to get their needs met.  Kagan, Kyle, and Scott (Win-Win Discipline) identify seven “positions”, described as “where students are coming from.”  Students may be:

  • Avoiding Failure
  • Angry
  • Control-Seeking
  • Energetic
  • Bored
  • Uninformed
